Write-tober

This month sees a plethora of writing events in my life. First off is this weekend when I'm hosting my writers group meeting. Then at the end of the month there's a writers retreat I was invited to and I'm really looking forward to that. After that there's the World Fantasy Con the first weekend in Novemember. So lots of writing stuff. Not a lot of time to write, though. But lots of events. To, instead og Rocktober, for me this is Write-tober. Happy Write-tober!

Now, all I need to do to cap it off would to be actually published!

Also, before I forget (again) next month is NaNoWriMo. I've never participated, andf I probably won't this year either, although I plan to use it to start the long delayed novel project.

Steve, my dear, what the HELL is a hoopy frood?

And happy write-tober to you--keep us apprised of your progress, ok? I agree with you that NaNoWriMo is a good time to get a jump on a project. I had thought of using that time myself, but then I realized that there simply aren't enough hours in my day...(plus I'm scared).

Have a great Monday!!

You should give NaNoWriMo a go, I did it last year and found it an incredibly valuable experience.

Greeny, "hoopy frood" is a reference to Douglas Adams' Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I'm going from memory here, so I might be a bit off.

A hoopy is a really together guy. A frood is a really, amazingly together guy.

And don't be scared about writing (yeah, I know, saying that doesn't help, does it), but I certainly hear ya on the not having enough hours in the day.

Julia, I know a lot of people who have done it (NaNoWriMo). And I think the general concepts the espouse are excellent (write everyday, don't go back and edit what you've written, keep moving forward even if you think it's all going to heck and back). It's that time thing again.

Although, November seems to be opening up. Depends on how the end of this month happens. I certainly will keep it in mind and I might try to keep with it (although I don't think I'll be doing the reporting of the progress, except maybe here).

And I have pointed new writers to it because I do think it's a good idea.

Oh, I KNEW I had heard it before! Gotcha! Thanks for the clarification.

Even if not participating, the NaNoWriMo forums can be inspiring in a zany, caffeine crazed kind of way.

Todd, and I could use all the caffeine inspired zaniness I can get.
