Need to take product photos, but don't have a budget, try these tips. Okay, well some of the instructions work better if you 1) have a good camera and 2) a little photo training, but most people should be able to get enough out of it. The tips on the background and use of bounce cards is usually enough to get decent photos. Having had to do my own photography before, I can tell you this is a good system (I've done trickier effects, but then I know a lot more about commercial photography than most and had access to some more exotic extras).
And interesting article on the resurgent racism in politics. And while I'd like to say it's fringe stuff, you've seen some of the bruhaha over the "The Marriage Vote" pledge that candidates are being asked to sign, right? (Grokked from Jay Lake and others)
