I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

And that's why I love him

Thanks to Vince, I now know Joe Walsh has a new album out, Analog Man. I loves me some Joe. And thanks to the youtubies, I can get my fix before I get the album (and yes, damn it, it's an album - see the title track). There's a lot of great tracks on this one, and lots of great growling guitar licks that rock hard. But if you want to know why I really admire Joe, here's one of the songs, destined, as so much of good Joe is, to never get airplay, "And the Band Played On."

Gotta love a writer who can put the line "Yeah, everybody's got their heads up their asses" and not only make the meter work, but make it rhyme. Obviously the song may be NSFW depending on your situation.

"Too many chances to sink like a stone…" Oh yes.

Almost forgot to mention, one of the reasons I love Joe Walsh songs is that you can hear he's having such a damn fun time playing them. I can always see that half smile, half gritted teeth, face twisted like he's in pain, look while he plays. Should we all love what we do like he does.

I've been a huge fan of his since his James Gang days. And "And The Band Played On" is on constant rotation on my iPod.

It's one of my favs from what I've been able to listen to. India is also pretty damn good, and not typical Walsh, but man he rocks that lick much better than Angus Young did in AC/DCs "Thunder" (of which it reminds me very strongly of).

Also liking "Wrecking Ball" and "Lucky That Way" very much. All and all a nice return, Joe. Thanks for the music.

Let's be sure to give due props to The Allen Parsons Project's song Nemesis, which actually rhymes parthenogenesis.

Oh, and Meadows is the perfect "Wake up the roommate" song. John can attest to that.

Well, yeah, there is the parthenogenesis thing. Also, it's probably the screaming at the beginning of Meadows that helps with the waking part.
