I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Linkee-poo quickly

Very busy morning, haven't had a chance to look at the news yet. So, anything interesting yet?

There's going to be a Pokemon rip-off Jurassic World tie-in game. (Grokked from Dan)

"There's an update in a story about a shipwreck off the coast of Alabama that in January was thought to be a famous slave ship. But now the Alabama Historical Commission says the ship is too new and too large to be the Clotilda, which was the last known vessel to bring enslaved people to the United States in 1860."

"Owners of Amazon Echo devices with the voice-enabled assistant Alexa have been pretty much creeped out of their damn minds recently. People are reporting that the bot sometimes spontaneously starts laughing — which is basically a bloodcurdling nightmare." Damnit, Skynet, stop laughing. (Grokked from Dan)

"West Virginia's striking teachers are headed back to classrooms after the teachers union and state negotiators struck a deal Tuesday." So what's the lesson here, Suzy? "Wildcat strikes work." Although the strike wasn't technically a "strike" as the school superintendents called school off for those days. But now after the legislature's attempt to say, "We're only giving you 4% so we can give the other state workers a raise as well" (note, both teachers and other state employees are getting a 5% raise, because unions fight for everybody), now they're saying they'll have to slash Medicaid to make up the money.

"Police believe a nerve agent was used to deliberately poison a former Russian double agent and his daughter, Britain's top counter-terrorism officer said on Wednesday, in a case that threatens to further damage London's ties with Moscow."

"Senior adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, will visit Mexico on Wednesday and meet President Enrique Pena Nieto, amid strained relations over trade and Trump’s demands that Mexico pay for a border wall." Jared makes a run for the border…
