I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Linkee-poo post surgery

Surgery went well. Another one and done. But this time it was small enough that I have stitches. Oddly enough, stitches have a more strict wound care procedure (in regards to lifting and bending).

"In fact, women writers were relatively common throughout the pulp era, and the proportion of women readers was even higher. 'At least 15 percent of the science fiction community were women—producers—and reading polls suggest that 40 to 50 percent of the readers were women,' (Lisa Yaszek, who teaches science fiction studies at Georgia Tech) says. 'So there were always a lot of women in the genre.'" That's going to upset a number of people. (Grokked from S.A. Chakraborty)

"Toothpicks seem so innocent. Whether staking down juicy sliders on game day or harpooning fruits bobbing in happy-hour cocktails, the mini skewers often spike our festive occasions. But, make no mistake, they have a vicious side. Given the chance, they will mess you up." Protip, if it's not meant to be food, don't eat it. Especially if it's pointy and made out of materials that are hard to digest. (Grokked from Dan)

Ah cryptocurrancy, the future. "A cryptocurrency exchange in Canada has lost control of at least $137 million of its customers’ assets following the sudden death of its founder, who was the only person known to have access the the offline wallet that stored the digital coins. British Columbia-based QuadrigaCX is unable to access most or all of another $53 million because it’s tied up in disputes with third parties." (Grokked from Kathryn Cramer)

"The Trump administration says it would require extraordinary effort to reunite what may be thousands of migrant children who have been separated from their parents and, even if it could, the children would likely be emotionally harmed… Jonathan White, who leads the Health and Human Services Department’s efforts to reunite migrant children with their parents, said removing children from 'sponsor' homes to rejoin their parents 'would present grave child welfare concerns.' He said the government should focus on reuniting children currently in its custody, not those who have already been released to sponsors." Bullshit. And I guess Trump better start burning the midnight oil to get these kids back with their parents. Saying, "it's too hard" is not an excuse. Plus I see where all that border security money should actually be spent. (Grokked form Joy Reid)
