Linkee-poo Sunday Dec 13

"Two snow storms could pack an early-season punch in the northern and central parts of New Jersey this week, forecasters said… The two storms will hit on Monday and Wednesday, with the possibility of more than a foot of snow during the second storm." Stay safe, my NJ friends.

"The number of available intensive care unit beds in California's San Joaquin Valley plummeted to zero for the first time Saturday, state officials announced as ICU units fill up statewide amid spiking COVID-19 cases."

"Three semi-trucks loaded with the nation's first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine rolled out of the parking lot of the Pfizer manufacturing plant early Sunday morning, met with cheering crowds of local residents who said they were proud of their hometown's contribution to science, and helping to bring the end to the coronavirus pandemic."

How goes Brexit? "The United Kingdom and the European Union have warned a no-deal Brexit was now likely, even as they agreed -- once again -- to extend trade talks beyond a self-imposed Sunday deadline."

"Last month, the Ethiopian government launched a military offensive against a rebellious regional government. The ensuing conflict has killed hundreds, and almost 50,000 Ethiopians have crossed the country's northwestern border into Sudan. It's a refugee crisis that is straining the humanitarian infrastructure in the country. The United Nations refugee agency has appealed for $150 million to help cope with the situation."

"Thousands descended on Washington D.C. Saturday for the second 'Million MAGA March' in support of President Trump since he lost the presidential election. Metro Police confirmed Saturday afternoon there were some arrests, but said the rally had been largely peaceful."

Except… "In Washington, D.C., four people were stabbed as violence escalated Saturday night following competing protests during the day. The president's supporters, including the far-right Proud Boys, had gathered in the afternoon to denounce the results of the 2020 election -- baselessly decried as fraudulent for weeks by Trump… Meanwhile, across the country in Olympia, Washington, a person was shot during similar protests on Saturday."

"At least 23 people were arrested Saturday night in relation to the protests, according to multiple sources citing the mayor's office and D.C. police. The arrests included six assaults on a police officer, 10 simple assaults and four riotous acts." My, look at all the supposedly non-racist hand signals.

"Sen. Lamar Alexander said in an interview that aired Sunday he hopes President Donald Trump 'puts the country first' and congratulates President-elect Joe Biden on his victory." You mean, unlike the GOP for the last 4 years and he should do the thing he has never shown any interest in doing. Yeah. I'm not holding my breath. you had you chance to hold him accountable, Senator, and you failed that test.

"The justices' one-page order is about as definitive an answer as one could expect, with Electoral College delegates set to cast their ballots for president Monday. But for the president and his GOP supporters, the decision fails to answer one simple question: What next?"
