Linkee-poo, Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes?

I'm really trying to feel it.

"The Bladen Journal reports that a mummified hand found in Castleton, North Yorkshire, England is the only known 'Hand of Glory', a grotesque artifact meant to aid thieves in their work during the night, still in existence. This mummified hand supposedly has the power to 'entrance humans' according to the Express. Hands of Glory were also a favorite tool for thieves and creative storytellers for over 200 years." (Grokked from John)

Stephen Colbert tries to make sense of it. Yes. I also woke with Nixon and the Watergate Investigation. I also remember a time when we didn't really talk politics. My family was weird that we did, but also interspersed that with intrafamily politics, so I grew up learning it. But the news wasn't about politicians ALL THE FUCKING TIME. And, yes, "We drank too much of the poison… And there's a gentle high to the condemnation." And that's part of why I need to take a break soon. (Grokked from Dan)

The NY Times exit poll breakdown. No, the line of "economic insecurity" doesn't hold up. It's mostly racism. (Grokked from Ann Leckie)

A Fred Clark tweet storm on how this election is the culmination of white evangelicalism and white nationalist politics.

A tweet storm of relevance "Im talking to you now surprised white people… I wanna bring you in for an empathy moment." I really want to feel the uplift in there. That's usually where I'm at. But not this morning. And it's not because of me (straight, white male, 2 jobs plus projects - freelance and writing - low debt), I'll be okay (maybe), but it's for this lawyer, and for that client he talks about. I thought we had moved the needle.

"Donald Trump's advisor on Israel said that calling the Republican nominee's closing ad anti-Semitic is 'an absolute abuse of the accusation' in a Monday interview… 'The Jewish community has to be able to distinguish between real anti-Semitism and fake anti-Semitism,' David Friedman told Jewish Insider. 'When you criticize people who happen to be Jewish, that’s not anti-Semitism if you’re criticizing them because of their policies.'" And that's true. However, when every single person that is criticized in an ad is Jewish you gotta ask yourself what's going on. Also, when the language lines up with the Protocols of the Elders of Zion myths, I think the Anti-Defamation League is spot on. Also, the ADL is pretty much the arbiter of anti-Semitic language usage in the US. It's all in their wheel-house.

"In an Election Day tweet, the Republican National Lawyers Association labeled the Brennan Center -- a non-partisan public policy institute that advocates for voters and studies other justice issues -- an 'anti-democracy hate' group." I think I see a post-election strategy evolving.

"James O’Keefe, the political operative known for posting unreliable, often deceptively edited videos of undercover interactions, just tweeted a new clip of him in Philadelphia 'tailing a pastor’s bus that’s bussing people to the polls'… Here’s the thing: Busing citizens to the polls is perfectly legal." I'll take Ignorant, Self-Important Asses for 300, Alex. (Grokked from John Scalzi)

"Author Salman Rushdie reminded voters that Trump will stand trial later this month in a racketeering lawsuit and then again next month as part of a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims the Republican presidential nominee raped her when she was 13 years old." (Grokked from Christian Klaver)

Tweet of my heart: @Pixelfish Y'know, yer Pollyanna optimism about how life still goes on is predicated on you not having brown skin, pre-existing conditions, uterus, etc (Grokked from Ann Leckie)

Double dip: @timpratt A guy who obsessively tracks and responds to every mention of himself anywhere now has access to NSA surveillance, so, that'll be cool (Grokked from Tobias Buckell)
