Linkee-poo is weak sauce today

Sorry, doing adult stuff today, not a lot of time. Yes, this little dancing monkey sometimes needs to get other things done. It's a crying shame, it is. But let me just say "SQUEE!"

So, how'bout them primaries? Are we entertained, yet?

"People often ask how I’m able to do all that work on top of having a day job, and the answer is, most days, I just don’t know." Kameron Hurley on hacking her writing process. I also get asked how I handle two jobs. I don't know. But I know a lot of writing is not getting done.

"If you want to do a thing, do it now, or as soon as feasible. Because there might not be a later." Elizabeth Bear with a good life lesson.

American eugenics. When politics and social movements intentionally misunderstand science bad things can happen.

Some tips on how to keep money from ruining a relationship.

Speaking of money, the Note to Self podcast episode on exactly who you're working for. This is one of the major reasons why the tax code needs to be changed. And not to a "flat tax" which is highly regressive and punitive on the lower income scale, nor to reduce percentage categories, but to incentivize worthwhile, sustainable, and equitable business growth. Right now the tax code is skewed heavily to the top earners' benefit with very little for the majority of us. There's only one candidate whom I think would try to change this, but they have no chance of ever getting it enacted in the current climate. And if you think anyone on the GOP will try to remedy the situation, please stand there while I have a hearty laugh at you. But until this is fixed (fully taxing capital gains as income) all these things that The People™ are upset with (note the political support of Trump and Sanders) will continue to grow and exacerbate.

Poster woman for gun rights is shot in the back by her 4-year old while driving. She was the poster woman for gun sense. Yea, the NRA luuuuuuves those women shooters. When they thought they would get my wife to join, JHC did we get mail and phone calls. Or, we could call this a "Florida women…" story. (Grokked from Robert J Bennett)

"At a news conference Monday, authorities said Oregon State Police's fatal shooting of one of the occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, Robert 'LaVoy' Finicum, was 'justified.' But now the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General is investigating possible misconduct by members of the FBI team involved in the operation." Apparently there are two firearm discharges that aren't accounted for (well, they believe they are from one FBI officer, but that officer swears he didn't fire). Neither of the shots hit Finicum.

"On Friday, two members of Trump’s private security team wore street clothes to a rally in New Orleans. One of them, Eddie Deck, explained to reporters that his duties were now weighted towards intelligence work researching potential protesters… (at another rally) Before the start of the rally, they began assisting in the preemptive removal of potential dissenters, including a group of young people dressed in black who silently linked hands as they were jeered by Trump supporters and a man wearing a shirt that said 'Fascist Trump' on the back." (Grokked from Jason Sanford)

Saladin Ahmed shares a bit of the shit storm he endures most every day. I don't always agree with Saladin's viewpoint, but keep up the good work my friend. Thank you for taking the hit so the rest of us can understand more of our world and then have to think deeper about our positions. And to the rest of the world, hey, stop being dicks, okay? (Actually the more I read about this shit and all the shit my female friends go through online and I really just wanna take an axe to the internet and start swinging)

BTW, Saladin has also been asked to write for the GRR Martin Wild Cards series. You go with your bad self, Saladin. You rock.
