I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Linkee-poo if I had a voice I would sing

"Russia's Interfax News Agency reports that engineers at the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF)—the Russian Federation Nuclear Center facility where scientists designed the Soviet Union's first nuclear bomb—have been arrested for mining cryptocurrency with "office computing resources," according to a spokesperson for the Institute. 'There has been an unsanctioned attempt to use computer facilities for private purposes including so-called mining,' said Tatyana Zalesskaya, head of the Institute's press service." Oops. (Grokked from John)

"California police investigating a violent white nationalist event worked with white supremacists in an effort to identify counter-protesters and sought the prosecution of activists with 'anti-racist' beliefs, court documents show." (Grokked from Xeni Jardin)

"Fox has nearly perfected the art of moving the goalposts after its so-called bombshells have been debunked. (They’ve had a lot of practice.)… It’s hard to keep track of all the pseudo-scandals that Fox News runs through in a given week." (Grokked from Xeni Jardin)

How's Brexit going? "One farmer in Fife said he dumped enough vegetables to 'feed 15,000 people for a year' because there 'wasn’t enough hands' to harvest it. Another farmer in Angus said the region requires 4,000 seasonal workers a year and there simply aren’t enough unemployed locals to pick the fruit he grows." Remember when some southern states passed "tough" immigration laws and suddenly farmers also had problems getting their crops out of the field. Same nativist stupidity, different side of the pond. (Grokked from Jim Wright)

"So," you might be saying, "sure Kansas had severe problems after their experiment with lowering taxes to bring in more revenue, but that's just one point on the chart." Okay, how about Oklahoma then. It's almost like cutting taxes are a sure way to economic decline. Note that in this case because Oklahoma can only pass a tax increase with a super majority, the Democrats are saying the new bill to increase taxes isn't enough and raises taxes on the people least able to pay.

"There has been a big development in the mysterious death of a Border Patrol agent beside a remote highway in West Texas last year. The case received national attention because President Trump speculated it was a brutal murder committed by smugglers. The FBI now says, after an exhaustive investigation, that they have found no evidence the officer's death was a homicide." The president lied to us about the dangers of immigration? Shocked, shocked I am…

"The United States intelligence community has been conducting a top-secret operation to recover stolen classified U.S. government documents from Russian operatives, according to sources familiar with the matter. The operation has also inadvertently yielded a cache of documents purporting to relate to Donald Trump and Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election… Further, it is not known whether the Russians involved in the channel are acting on their own or have been authorized by the Russian government to try to sell the materials to the United States. As a result, the Americans are uncertain whether the Russians involved are part of a disinformation campaign orchestrated by Moscow, either to discredit Trump or to discredit efforts by American officials investigating Trump’s possible ties to Russia, including Special Counsel Robert Mueller." I would be lying if I didn't say this is highly intriguing and it's good to know someone, somewhere in the intelligence community still retains some knowledge of how the game is played.
