Linkee-poo sees fireworks and the pomp and parade

Some lesser known items about the Fourth celebrations. (Grokked from WannbeWriter06)

Eric on a little about how wise and freedom loving our forefathers were.

That’s the tell. That’s the proof. That is why you cannot be believed. Fred Clark on why liars for Jesus can't be believed when they say they're anti-abortion.

The wicked problem of Obamacare. An article on the continuity that there are problems that are messy and difficult to solve, and on which people can't agree. Add in some anecdotal evidence about how Obamacare meets a desperate need. (Grokked from Jay Lake)

Is the "penalty" in Obamacare actually the "biggest tax increase in history"? Not by a long shot. But then, since Reagan actually enacted the biggest tax increase, the cognitive dissonance conservatives would experience in accepting that reality would cause something worse than brain freeze in a large percentage of the population. Fortunately, with Obamacare, that won't count against you when you need to get insurance.

Tweet of my heart: @therickwilson: I prefer to think of the Higgs Boson as "The Cthulhu Particle." Really, the outcomes are SO much more interesting that way.

And happy Higgs Boson day. The best part about the announcement is that they're pretty sure that their discovery is not the last and that their readings of the collisions point to a stranger universe than we can currently imagine.
