Dear US Airways,
I'm at the airport two hours early as prescribed by current advice. Nobody is at your checking desk so I can check my bag. I would say this was strange, but oddly enough I don't expect better from you.
Your pissed customer who will make it a part of his profile to never fly you again.
edit PS if the recommendation is to arrive 2 hours early, then you should schedule your workers shifts to start 2.25 hours before the first flight.

Flying out of Akron or Pittsburgh?
Anonymous Cassie
Hey Cassie, I'm back here at CAK, gate 4. Flight departs in a half hour, plane not at gate, yet.
If I'd known you were coming I'd baked a cake - and brought it there.
Hopkins, maybe Pittsburgh, yeah, 2 hours. Akron? It rarely takes more than an hour.* You'll know next time.
*As in, I never heard of anyone waiting to get through security. I took my mom and sister (in a wheelchair) through security last January. We were good to get on- board in less than a half hour. I think it took me longer to take my shoes and coat off and put them back on.

Hey Cassie, yeah, I know. I was looking forward to a full hour of studying at the terminal. Didn't work out that way.
I will compliment US Air, they got my bag to the connector flight that I had to run to make in Charlotte. The flight out of CAK was late to leave, had to be deiced, and then we sat on the Tarmac for a bit.
Let's see:
the rec'd 3 hours before for flight to Germany from Detroit--the desk was minimally staffed and the line was long.
the rec'd 90 minutes before the flight to Romania from Munich--the desk remained unstaffed until 70 minutes before.
the rec'd 90 minutes before the flight to Munich from Romania--the desk was staffed at exactly 90 minutes before.
the rec'd 3 hours before the flight to Detroit from Frankfurt--the only desk that was well staffed and efficient.
A pox on all airlines, I say.
