I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Linkee-poo and Mona sitting watching the end of the day as it fades into shades of grey

Ken McConnell shows us his ebook sales numbers.

Chuck Wendig shares some results of his ebook "free" experiment.

For all those who like to say we're in a post-racial/post-feminism world, bullshit. "Taking a man’s name opened up a new world. It helped me earn double and triple the income of my true name, with the same work and service." Why James Chartrand wears women's underwear. (Grokked from Kelly Swails)

Hey, you know how you're not allowed to buy drugs from Canadian pharmacies (for those of you in the US), or the Mexican or Chinese spam suppliers? Yeah, doesn't mean the pharmaceutical companies have that restriction. "Too many people believe incorrectly that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has the authority to properly monitor our drug supply system for safety." (Grokked from Morgan Locke)

More on how austerity slows recovery.

Huhn, the ACA helps make "Medicare Advantage… stronger than ever — offering more seniors better benefits, higher quality care and lower costs." Whodathunkit? Not conservatives, that's for damn sure. So much for all the claims of "socialized medicine" (Medicare Advantage being the program the government farms out to private insurers).

Also, speaking of insurance, if you ever doubt the phrase, "Got mine, screw you," Rick Santorum is the embodiment of that phrase. "She'd spent thirteen years of her life taking care of her girl… And if her kid died on the 12th of the month, not after 15th, the system as it stands would say, 'Fuck you, starve.'" And that's part of why I'm a liberal, because we want to change that system to make it better for people. (Grokked from Jay Lake)

Another reason was I saw too much of this on the conservative side. Oh look, the candy store is open again, thanks to a stacked conservative court full of activist judges. Sure, there's liberals at the pig slop trough, but there seems to be far fewer and they also do it less and with a little finesse (at least their PACs do nominally spend on the issues they were built for). But, you know, for the blessed (in their own minds) all things are pure. I'll also remind you that one of the reasons given by Newt's election staff that quit en mass back in the summer was that they felt Newt and his wife were spending too much on their personal travel (from campaign funds) and treated campaign stops as little more than a book-signing tour.

For those who think oh those liberals, they just love their Obama. Not so much, you know. But I will say he's much better than the former occupant. On the other hand, here's an interesting look at the political camps and what they think of each other.(Grokked from Jay Lake)

Tweet of my heart:
@neiltyson: Groundhog Day: Evidence that Weather Forecasters still haven't convinced people that they know what they're talking about.

Forgot to mention, it would be interesting to also see your results. That way we can compare results and efforts.
