I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

The Promised Pictures

(click for larger image)

Here is the magificant pumpkin group; the award winning pumpkin grouping.

Well, I have another picture of the whole scene including the light wrapped mailbox and a scan of the major award, but alas, blogger seems to be having issues.

Edit Yeah fixes!

And then the award.

So, as you can see, even if it's not legit and one of my neighbors is pulling my leg, this is still excellent. They went through a great deal to do this.

YAY! Fabuloso! --Just the perfect fall/Halloween scene! You make my pumpkins pale in comparison. (We usually save the carving 'til later since it's still warm here.)

We did put up lights and streamers, and we put light-up skulls in the flowers by the door...but your scale is grand. And that is, well, grand!

Smorgasbord city.

Seriously, if I tried putting out a pumpkin patch like that, I'd have every moose for 3 square miles in my yard - oh wait, I already do.

I think it looks wonderful. In fact, I love it!

Well, to be clear, the jack o' lanterns are styrofoam, so no animal is going to much them except by accident.

Nice.

Do you get a lot of comments like:

"So, who'd you have to kill to get all those headstones?"

Todd, I have had kids ask if it's a real graveyard. My standard response is, "Yes, it's filled with those kids who thought they were getting candy but never wanted to say Trick-or-Treat." It's amazing to me how many kids just stick out their bags or hands fo rthe candy. Some who even try and take it from the bowl. It's my rule, they have to say the magic phrase (I'm less strict with the younger than 4 crowd). One teen thought he would be smart and made it a point of honor to not say it. After twenty minutes of him standing there and trying to get around me to get the candy, he finally went away.

I've also have had kids do the jumping second take. One kid was next to the mailbox (that has a big purple spider on it), without seeing the spider there. Once he saw it, realized he was less than a foot away, he jumped (literally) two feet back.

Picture me with an evil grin remembering that.

Some kids want to get a closer view of the decorations, and their welcome as long as they have a parent to watch they don't get tangled in the cords.

This year, I'm intrigued by the concept of white pumpkins, which local vendors are marketing for Halloween as "ghost pumpkins."

Cute yard.

Camille, yeah they tried white pumpkins here a few years ago, they didn't take off. We Ohioans are just sticklers for tradition.
