I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

I have a friend who almost did that. Ok, it might have been for math instead of english, but close enough.

It certainly was an interesting thing to think about. Social, geopolitical, financial.

I think I had that person in the back of my mind when it came to me.

Yeah, when I first wrote it I was thinking of Americans going to foreign countries and taking jobs teaching ESL classes. And then I was thinking about all the immigrant issues we're starting to hear about with our neighbors to the north. So I thought, well, I could get a job teach ESL if we moved to Canada. And then the whole absurdity of what I had written down hit me and I started to laugh.

I like that line, I don't know where I will fit it in, but I know I will some day.
