I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Linkee-poo does the art walk thing

Catherine Shaffer and the giant internet hand of spanking.

It's good to know that no matter how far we think we've progressed as a society, we can still ban books. Vonnegut's Slaughter House Five? Really? Crude language and adult themes are inappropriate for an upper-level English course? Truly, Republic, MO district school board, you have your heads up your asses if you think your kids haven't already been exposed to even worse. Also, the person objecting to having the books doesn't have children within the system. I'm all about openness and inclusiveness for opinions, but making your decision based on "advocating principles contrary to the Bible" 1) isn't an acceptable argument to ban a book and 2) can not be reasonably made by someone who isn't being exposed to the material as they have no standing. (Grokked by Jeffrey Beeler).

The problem of the income inequity. Oh look, major problems happen when we destroy the middle-class and concentrate wealth in the top 1% (also with examples on how unfair that really is). (Grokked from Jay Lake)

I think I need to start drinking more often. I'm getting close to Professor Farnsworth's quote, "I don't want to live on this planet anymore."

The Economist on some Tea Party cognitive dissonance. "The tea-party movement has spent the past year arguing that stimulus doesn't work and cannot, by nature, create more jobs or economic activity. The idea that a major tea-party figure can turn around and make a bog-standard argument for defence spending on Keynesian grounds testifies to a startling capacity for cognitive dissonance." (Grokked from someone, but I lost the link, sorry)

The good news is that The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library has responded appropriately!
