The law? The law is a human institution. Why do we need a reason? Constitution, schmonstitution. Hey, Tea Party, no, really, time to start walking the walk. You cheer for the person who 1) doesn't know the Constitution let alone their duty or oath to it and 2) wants to go beyond the law. We have another word for people like that. We call them criminals. Keep telling me this isn't because there's a black man in the Oval Office, because I keep forgetting.
But then when you have activists who aren't even connected with reality I guess it's not a surprise. Hey, Tea Party in Space (why do I want to say that like "Pigs in Spaaaccceee!"), you may have missed it but you'll want to look at Boeing, United Launch Alliance, SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, Kistler, Space Dev, oh wait, here, have a wiki. Basically, the recurring theme is "All of these programs are wasteful and over budget because Congress and the White House aren't funding them or paying much attention to space, so we should cut funding altogether."
No, seriously, their solution to government not paying enough attention to space is for the government to pay no attention. E.g., quote:
