Cover Art

Well, I'm sure the kiddies' screams have been heard around the world. That Certain Boy Wizard and the Deathly Hallows has actual cover art (go to Amazon, you won't be able to miss the link). Yes, I've read all the books. Yes, I'll probably get this one, too. I won't be there at midnight, but it'll probably be a Sweetest Day Gift, or Xmas.

Out of curiousity, what is the appeal of the series to you?

I read the first one (I think after #3 came out) and thought it was okay, but didn't want to get sucked into the long term commitment of books #2, 3, ... n.

It's good, basic storytelling. Her backstory skills are very good. She doesn't clutter up the story with much (until Goblet of Fire). We have the character, there's some history he didnt' just appear on the scene, bad things happen, but he gets through it, somehow. Not much in the way of Deus Ex Machina. It's not all peaches and ice cream for the kids (which helped reset the YA market and gave those who had been doing it all along a boost).
