I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Looking Through a Glass Onion

It's been forty years since The White Album was released. My brother loved the Beatles, and I grew up knowing most of their songs by heart.

It's also on this anniversary that the Vatican official forgives John Lennon for saying the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Glad they don't carry a grudge, and didn't wait as long as they did to forgive Galileo Galilei.

Had that one on cassette, taped through the highly technical means of shoving the recorder up against my cousin's stereo speaker.

Good times.

I've never actually listened to music much, Steve. Heard the Beatles in passing on the radio and such. Never really listened to the Pope much either. I'm still trying to figure out who dressed the worst, the Beatles, Karl Marx, or the Pope. As a scientist, it's my duty to make fun of all three!

Todd, I've done that myself a few times. Many tapes with clicking sounds that came from the cassette recorder.

Rick, so I guess many of my titles and the irony or poignancy doesn't work for you.

I was just kidding, Steve. I'm as knowledgeable about music as my dog is about.... geomorphology.

I kinda figured that, Rick, but you know, sometimes the strangest things happen. I personally don't get to see many modern movies. I read the reviews and plot summaries, and all the spoiler posts to keep up to date.
