I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Linkee-poo joins in singing, "John Barleycorn must die"

Sorry, another loning day on the home front. Finished up the 2nd half of Bette's surprise, fixed lawn mower and mowed lawn, and did other misc chores around the house (also had to fix vacuum cleaner in the process). Plus the requisite cat care. As a warning, I doubt I'll be on tomorrow. There's two more chores that need finishing and then going to pick Bette up. Not to mention I really want to sleep (was also up early today for cat care).

Kelly Swails on the 10,000 word weekend. That was actually my goal for the retreat. I didn't make it there, but it wasn't for not trying.

White Cat Publications announces a new magazine, "Insatiable- The Magazine of Paranormal Desire".

More on that rights thing I pointed to the other day. This time with a little more about grey markets and the attempts to quash them.

Jeff VanderMeer with good advice. I once asked a cashier if she could roll out some cash register paper so I could get a few lines down.

On the importance of imagination. Having had people try to quash mine, and seeing them do so in others, yes, this. A mind if a beautiful thing that… ooo shiny! (Grokked from Tor.com)

Eric shares a video, "Little Quentin." Maybe NSFW, although it's all animation, but most likely Adult Swim material.

And now, your blast from the past, 13 tech sounds you don't hear anymore. What's sad is I still have examples of most of these at home. (Grokked from Dan, whom I believe has machines in his basement that could make all of those sounds)

"No matter how many Republican officials condemn and denounce (obviously whackaloon racists and national socialists) views, they also see many other Republicans in good standing espousing the same ideas in slightly more subtle forms. They thus perceive that Republican officials don’t really oppose the substance of their views, only the style in which they are expressed… After all, they’ve seen others say or suggest the same things they believe, or endorse the same policies they endorse, without such statements and actions drawing any criticism from the party."

Imagination squashers should be squashed!

I imagine them being squashed. Would that make it recursive or meta?
