On Writing Sex
Oh, you think I'm going to pontificate? Not when the inestimable ebear will do it. The new story Sean and the Moon has a sex scene in it and I have to admit that I was blowing it big time; 14 year-old boy, moon glow, foxtail touches, I was squicking all over the place. With a lucky message from the Muse I think I'm back on track, but with the advice of Elizabeth Bear (aka matociquala), I think I'll be able to handle it.

I don't know exactly what "squicking" means, but I can imagine, and I'm kind of doing it now, too...in sympathy.
Yeah, that part of the story, which is integral, just wasn't working and I first tried to gloss over it, thought I couldn't do that, so then I went and described every little thing, and that wasn't working (kind of like reading a medical decription of sex, sure you get the idea, but the experience just wasn't "good").
