I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Just a Question

So, now that you've got it, what are you going to do with it?

Oh yeah, blame Obama for not getting anything done. Sorry, forgot.

I'm sick at seeing the headlines about Republican gains in Ohio.

Didn't we have enough corruption under the last Republican administration here? Did people simply forget, or don't they care?

And if people hate gridlock, why did they vote the very people to office who will create more? I'm baffled.

Also baffled at the Dems, who always seem to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Dr. Phil, unfortunately we're taking a bath. Or will be taking a bath. Or something like that.

Sheila, you and me both. I remember.

People were upset. They think nothing is being done because their lives aren't magically better. So they thought, "That button didn't work, let's try this button, we haven't pushed THAT one in a while."

But yeah, thanks for installing the party that wanted to slow everything down and then still said "NO." Thanks for bringing back the jerks who created this mess in the first place.

(those last sentences we're directed at you, Sheila, but at the general public)

I totally agree with what you said about reelecting the people with the same mindset that created our current problems -- as if pushing the other button on this election cycle will suddenly make everything okay.

I heard an interesting interview on NPR this afternoon with the Guardian (U.K newspaper) correspondent in New York City. He said that for some of the white American voters out there, Obama is a flash point for the unease that they feel about globalization and other religions and races, because he represents global cosmopolitanism to them.

As a child with a foreign parent, I feel this new political climate does not bode well for me and my ilk. Guess if the Tea Party trend continues, especially the furor over the so-called "anchor babies," then I can expect to be stripped of my citizenship and deported.

Then America can be left to the "real Americans" and everything will magically be okay, because the ones who are left can fill any job vacancies and move into the homes that are left by the "anchor babies." Oh, wait, isn't that what happened with Jewish homes and businesses in World War II? And look how well that turned out for everyone....not!

Sheila, well, you're white and it's mostly about brown babies. After all, nobody is really talking about the Africans who come here and have children in the US so they become citizens and get a lower rate on their college. Probably because those families are mostly the middle or upper class of Africa. It's also a big industry in Indonesia (birthing tours).
