All around good guy, Chief Warrant Officer US Navy (Ret.), sometimes commentor, and now Alaskan woodworking/fishing/sled-dogging resident Jim Wright has a blog called Stonekettle Station. I met Jim on John Scalzi's Whatever and have known him for his level-headedness and insight. He can also crack a good joke. This is one of the good guys.
Jim is just getting started on his blog, so there's not much there, yet. I expect Jim will soon fill it out with his interesting views, opinions and stories. You all should go and check it out. Here's wishing Jim a successful retirement and blog. May you never be bored.
All I can say is that if Old Jarhead starts blogging I'm never going to get any writing done.

Thanks for the shout out, Steve, and the kind words. One correction though, I'm not exactly "level-headed," my head is more egg-shaped. Though I have noticed that I am getting better looking in my old age.
I've got a new post up. And I was working on another one (Wright's Laws of Stupidity), but my house is currently under assault by terrorist woodpeckers. Big, red headed, black and white striped monsters. Bastards, they have no fear of me whatsoever - back when I was on active duty they feared me, but whatever mojo I used to have, it's gone. Sigh.
Oh well, off to fill the suet feeders, maybe bribery will work...
Jim, it's the change of hat and the fact that you now smell of wood. You need to start wearing a swamp hat and missing showers again, that'll learn 'em.
And we all get better looking with age. :)
And the fact that my house is clad in Cedar. Damn birds.
Heck, Jim, I have vinyl siding and I've had to chase the buggers away. They ain't all that bright, you know. Something to do with banging their heads against solid wood for hours at a time. (the back half of my lot is wooded, and the house is right up against the trees).
