You know your a SF geek when...
You type in an email, "Here are the changed PDFs," and your brain keys to changing the waters-of-life in Dune (and replays the scene from the SF Channels movie version).
I get these kinds of things all the time. It keeps me smiling.

I get that sometimes too. I recall watching a local news weather report that started with the weather man standing in front of a globe of the earth, which then zoomed into the Northern hemisphere and then to Idaho.
I got the distinct feeling that I came in late and missed the other planet's weather. Damn, I missed the Venus weather report. Oh well, I can still check out the Mars report.
I am a geek, but not so much a SF geek. I dig SciFi, the good and most of the bad, but my mental references tend to go to Simpsons and Roadhouse. I don't know what those two have to do with each other, but there ya go.
Hey, I've got the soundtrack from the Scifi Channel version of Dune and Children of Dune. I listen to it when I'm working in the shop. I think that makes me King of the Geeks, or at least a Duke or an Earl or something. Maybe Court Jester, um on second thought never mind...
Kenrei, I can vouch for Steve. Sometimes he evens channels Shakespeare. "I'll live in thine eyes, love in thy heart, and further more I will go with you to your uncle's"
Copied this directly from my IRC log of a chat with him.
In full disclosure, Dan was also tossing out the lines.
It's like when you play Star Wars chess, with every move you need to come up with a somewhat topical quote from the Movies. "I am your Father" is usually reserved for checkmate.

Ken, and Mercury was right on. "Back on Jupiter, we have a big storm, again."
Kanrei, s'okay, I sometimes do the Simpsons, or Monty Python.
