I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

You like me. Your really (bleep)ing like me.

They bleeped Sally Fields at the Emmy's last night. WTF? I didn't watch, so I only heard it second hand. I guess she went to say, "If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be god-damned wars in the first place." Fox bleeped out everything after the "God" part. What, did they think she was going to bear a breast or something?

I would have watched it for that, but that's me - a big fan of breasts.

I think there was a survey published that talked about why people flip channels. For guys, it was to find breats. Like 75% of the time.

And really, my cable sucks at it. But I am learning more Spanish. ¡Viva la Univision!

Wow...do you remember when Sinead O'Connor ripped up a photo of the pope and said, "Fight the REAL enemy" on SNL? And they won't let Sally Fields cuss about war. But they'll show Janet letting it all hang out.

You know what really bugs me? I really hate it that sex is used to sell EVERYTHING (I'm sorry, but it's even used for Disney princesses--it IS!) and four-letter words are in every prime-time show and rap song out there. But someone wants to make a commend using G-D or state an off-kilter political opinion (a la Sinead) and suddenly it's a HUGE deal. Can't show a photo of a baby nursing at its mother's breast, but Bratz have cleavage. Frick-frackin' double standards. Hate them.

Greeny, yep, I remember that. And I agree about the use of sex to sell. If it isn't sex it's violence. And it's just as unrealistic in either case.

Doesn't Liberty traditionally bare a breast? Or is that Justice? No, she's pretty prudish: I bet it's Liberty. (Well, not the American Liberty. She's wrapped up tight.)

Camille, yes, Liberty (personafied) goes with one breast bare. Justice is normally fully draped, although in the US we have mixed the two and Justice does show one breast (typically it is the left breast). It created a big stir when former Attorney General John Ashcroft had Justice (the statue) draped to hold a news conference, lest the little kiddies see a bronze bare breast on TV. Same stupidity surrounds a copy of the The David in Connecticut (I think). Some people object to marble cranks just jangeling around where kids might see them.
